Our doors are open daily, welcoming all families into our building and for special events like curriculum nights, music performances, and cultural celebrations.

Our highly qualified staff ensures rigor and deep understanding by teaching through authentic, real-world tasks. As a 1:1 device school, technology is fully integrated, empowering students to learn, create, and explore across all subjects. We recognize and honor the uniqueness of every learner, providing differentiated instruction based on individual needs and learning styles. Attendance policy

Thank you for partnering with us by having your students in school and on time to ensure they do not miss out on instruction. When a student is going to be absent from school, please call the Deane 24-hour Attendance Line by dialing 303-982-9666.

All absences not called in by parents will be considered unexcused, thus making it necessary for our office staff to attempt to call parents to verify the safety and whereabouts of your children.

Absences, pre-arranged

For planned events in which your student will be absent, a pre-arranged absence form should be submitted. Failure to submit a pre-arranged form will result in unexcused absences.

Please call our office for directions on how to fill out a pre-arranged absence form.

Forms must be completed and submitted to the office no later than 3 days before your student's scheduled absence. For your student's absences to be excused your student must meet one or more of the following conditions:

  • Is in good academic standing
  • Has no unexcused absences
  • Has four or fewer excused absences in a semester or seven or fewer in a school year.

Breakfast and lunch program

Universal Free Breakfast and lunch will be offered to all Deane students for the 2025-2026 school year.

Snacks and milk will be available for purchase.
Milk $1.00 (charge only applies if a student brings their lunch). Snack prices vary.

If you do not want your student to purchase snacks, families can complete an opt-out form. See the office for more information.

This year we ask all families to complete the Healthy School Meals for All (HSMA) application in the School Cafe. Completion of this form will help with additional funding for Deane and may allow for waivers of school-related fees.

To qualify for reduced or waived school fees, and additional programs please complete the HSMA application.

Communication

You must keep your information in the Infinite Campus family portal updated as things change with your address, phone, email, etc. Deane will communicate with families through email, letters, and phone calls so that you can receive school-related information or can be reached if there is an emergency.

Teachers will utilize Talking Points to communicate with families. Please be sure to download the family version of Talking Points via the App Store or  A weekly Messenger will be sent through email and voicemail to share important school information. Friday Folders will also be sent home weekly.

Crosswalk

If you or your child needs to cross Harlan, we ask that you please utilize the crosswalk. Our Crosswalk Guard, Ms. Medina, is there to ensure everyone gets across the street safely. Unfortunately, we have had some scary close calls.

Dismissal

Students will be dismissed at staggered times from their assigned exterior doors starting at 2:40 p.m. Please make a plan for the pick-up location with your children before the first day of school.

Dogs on property

As much as we love our furry friends at Deane, it is district policy that no dogs, regardless of breed, are allowed on school grounds. We appreciate your understanding and your efforts to keep our community safe. Please contact the front office if you have any questions or safety concerns to address.

Hug and go

The Hug and Go located at the front of the school is an area where students can be dropped off and picked up. Please do not use this area to park and exit your car to keep a steady flow of traffic.

All students should exit their vehicles on the passenger side. If you wish to walk your child to class, please park in the Ray Ross parking lot or on the west side of Harlan. Also, be aware that it is illegal to make a U-turn to enter or exit the Hug and Go.

Parking lot

Our front parking lot is closed to allow for bus drop off and pick up each morning from 7:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., and in the afternoon from 2:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., or until the buses have left the parking lot.

Feel free to use the parking lot once the cones have been removed. Please obey the one-way traffic signs and use extreme caution when students are present.

Speed, school zone

During arrival and dismissal times, all drivers must follow the posted speed limit and use caution while in the school zone. This includes Harlan Street, the front parking lot, Hug and Go, and Ray Ross parking lot. We all have busy lives and places to be, but we ask everyone to have patience to keep our students safe!
