Deane Elementary offers Band and Orchestra opportunities for 5th and 6th grade students.

• For 5th graders: 
  • The classes are tuition-free and occur during the school day.
  • Students are expected to bring their instruments to school twice a week and practice at home.
  • Registration typically happens at the beginning of the school year.
• For 6th graders: 
  • 6th graders can audition for middle school honor ensembles in addition to their regular school programs.
  • Some middle schools offer different levels of band and orchestra, such as beginner, intermediate, and advanced groups.
• Instruments:
  • Common band instruments include flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion.
  • Common orchestra instruments include violin, viola, cello, and upright bass.
